It is reported that only one of the three generators of the Lakwijaya Thermal Power Plant in Norochchole, which adds 900 megawatts to the national grid, is currently operational.

Sources of the Electricity Board say that one of the three generators installed there was disabled this morning, and that machine added 270 megawatts to the national grid. In addition, another unit of the three power generation units of the Norochchole coal plant was disabled for maintenance work last June.

According to this, the Norochchole coal plant will add only 300 MW to the national power grid. However, in a tweet, the Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekera, says that the Electricity Board has guaranteed a continuous supply of electricity throughout the island.
