The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has taken steps to temporarily suspend the registration of the three national sports associations, the Sri Lanka Handball Association, the Sri Lanka Carrom Association and the Sri Lanka Hockey Association.
A special gazette notification has been issued in this regard. The Minister has issued this gazette notification in accordance with Sections 32 and 33 of the Sports Act No. 25 of 1973, as amended.
The gazette notification states that the Secretary to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has been appointed as the “appropriate authority” to effectively carry out the governance, administration and other necessary functions of these sports associations.
