Sri Lanka Cricket Chairman Shammi Silva has submitted his resignation letter to Sports Minister Sunil Gamage. The chairman announced his resignation in this manner in accordance with a decision taken at the Sri Lanka Cricket Executive Meeting held yesterday afternoon, and all its executive members have also submitted their resignation letters, Sri Lanka Cricket sources said.
With the resignation of the chairman, all administrative affairs of the Sri Lanka Cricket will be temporarily taken over by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports from today (29) in accordance with Sections 31 and 34 of the Sports Act No. 25 of 1973, a statement issued by Sports Minister Sunil Gamage states.
The statement issued by the Minister also states that a new interim committee is to be appointed soon to find solutions to the problems in cricket and to make structural changes.
