The government has not held any official discussions so far regarding the removal of the Sri Lanka Cricket Chairman and the appointment of an interim board of directors chaired by Iran Wickramaratne in his place, Cabinet Media Spokesperson Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said.
The Minister said this while responding to a question raised by journalists at the Cabinet Decisions Media Briefing held yesterday (22).
A journalist asked whether there was any truth to the reports that the President had informed the current Sri Lanka Cricket Chairman to resign.
Responding to this, the Minister stated that there has been no discussion in the Cabinet or at any other level regarding this matter and that as far as he is aware, the President has not made any such announcement.
Accordingly, Minister Nalinda Jayatissa stated that no official information has been reported regarding such an appointment or removal at present.
The Minister also said that the government has a clear vision for the governance of cricket and its development, and that the necessary decisions regarding it will be taken at the appropriate time.
