Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena says that the current shortage of rice in the market has been created artificially. He said this during a discussion held with rice mill owners yesterday.
He further said that the price of rice in the market is increasing due to the shortage of rice and the government is focusing on importing 100,000 metric tons of rice from foreign countries to curb it and protect the consumer.
