Sri Lanka A player Vishen Halambage and India A batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi have been recommended for punishment for their heated exchange of words during a tri-nation ODI match in Dambulla on Monday.
Accordingly, it is said that they have been recommended to collect 50% of their match fees as fines. The match referee's report has been forwarded to the relevant cricket authorities in Sri Lanka and India for further action and videos of the incident are being shared with great attention on social media.
However, since this tournament is not being conducted by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the final decision on punishment will be left to the representatives of the relevant cricket governing bodies and tournament officials, say expert cricket commentators.
The incident came after Sri Lanka A's 'Super Over' victory over India A, and a heated argument was captured on video between Vishen Halambage and the 15-year-old Indian batsman.
